This is a philosophical book without the usual philosophical jargon. It deals with what philosophy holds most at heart: your happiness.

Don't we all want to be happy? And yet, total happiness very often eludes us. We often seem to be able to have ‘happiness-pockets’ in our lives, securing happiness for parts or aspects of our lives but not for others. It would seem that some disappointments, displeasures and dissatisfactions never leave us. Though frustrating, we learn to live with them like old scars on our skin. Nevertheless, none of this is necessary. We can indeed be totally happy; content deep down and entirely. We only have to know how. This book might suggest some solutions.

The ‘Four Havens’ explained in the book are four simple distinct ways of assuming a mind-set which disposes you to happiness. Your happiness is not something you must ‘achieve’. It is something you already have in your possession. You only have to be aware of it, and access it. The Four Havens will show you how to do this.

Why are they ‘intimate’? Because they have to do with what is most close and dear to you. They situate themselves in your most personal and private being, well within and out of reach of any duress or distress that you might encounter.

Perhaps this is a book which can heal the never-forgotten wounds which lie deep down in your heart and mind.
